Lois Bienvenue

From Vermilion, Alberta

Art

Lois is a self-taught artist born and raised on a farm near Vegreville, Alberta. During an illness in 2004, she turned frustration into determination and developed her talent by combining her love for art and nature. Lois searches the countryside for old buildings to draw and with permission dismantles the buildings to obtain the barnwood to make the frames that grace her drawings.

She often adds unique hand carvings to further enhance her detailed creations. J.D. TOODOOLYAS are her stand-alone abstract wood carvings.

Overall, her work is a product of a vivid imagination, as seen in her abstracts or scenes of old homestead buildings, nature and animals. Lois finds the inspiration for her work "in the beauty that nature displays, memories that old homesteads bring and the wild and playful spirit of animals."

Lois' work has been available throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan at various art and craft shows and in galleries. Her greeting cards have been sent to families and friends around the world. She also does commission work.
