I began my art journey as a child growing up in Canada's North. I was always drawing and colouring... reproducing as best I could, all the amazing photos in our National Geographic magazines. I couldn't get enough of the world outside my home, on the outskirts of Whitehorse, Yukon and later in the Kootenays or of the far away places represented in those glossy pages. Nature and wildlife are my passion and my childhood was spent outdoors wandering the countryside, usually with my faithful German Shepherd, investigating, exploring and often rescuing creatures in distress.
My love of nature led me to pursue an education in Biology at the University of Victoria and later Fish and Wildlife Conservation here in Vermilion where I now reside on a small off-grid farm near Derwent with my husband, 2 dogs, 5 horses, several cats and many chickens. While my Biologist career was cut short in order to raise a family (2 beautiful daughters), Art has remained a constantly evolving part of my journey.
I continue to explore this amazing world we live in and I still paint and sketch nature in various mixed mediums but I have also discovered the art of making jewelry. Creating beautiful pieces of wearable art from the materials provided by Mother Earth appeals to me on many levels and wearing it reinforces my connection to this planet that I love.
I am an artist on a journey and I will forever play with new and different media... metal and gemstones are simply one of the mediums I am currently engaged with. My hope is that my art, regardless of whatever form it takes, brings as much joy and appreciation to others as it does to me.
