For me, stone is magical. I love the way it feels in my hands, how the stone slowly grinds away und the pressure of my tools, revealing the beauty inside it. I love I am entirely in the moment, and all other thoughts and concerns slip away. Time ceases and I am left with the peace and joy experienced by a creative soul living its purpose.
I first began carving in 2009 under the guidance of Allan Waidman. He was a wonderful teacher, willing to share his knowledge and skills with those interested in stone carving. I will forever be indebted to him as he has given me a gift that can never be repaid.
From 2009 to 2016, I carved mainly as a hobby, challenging myself to try different forms and different types of stone. You can explore some of the things I have carved by checking out my work. In 2017, I began selling my work locally through various art walks and galleries.
Today I get the privilege and pleasure of working and selling with two very talented stone artists, Shauna Vollmer and Barry Kostiuk. I feel in my heart that I am meant to be on this journey with them. They are a constant source of support and inspiration. I am grateful to have these two awesome people as my carving partners, and as dear friends. Together, we form the Stone Shaper Studios, selling art locally.
